A Touch of Silver

™ and ©1997 Jim Valentino

Jim Valentino’s lovingly crafted story of a young comic fan in the early 1960s evokes nostalgia from many middle-aged fans. But Valentino strikes a chord familiar to more than baby-boomers in this slice-of-life narrative about a boy who’s a little self-conscious, not very athletic, and doesn’t have a stable family life. Through it all, the one refuge he clings to are those four-color wonders of escapism: comic books. This title stands out all the more for its uniqueness in the Image line. The story of Timothy B. Silver illustrates the universality of comic fans, regardless of the decade in which they were born, or the specifics of their lives.
