“All airbrushed contents” proclaims the cover, as if that’s somehow an indication of quality. The lettering isn’t airbrushed, but let’s not carp. There’s an inventive enthusiasm at work in the creation of an all mechanical world overseen by the tyrannical Necromologus, all presented in airbrushed shades of gray. While some of the monsters appear as if they’ve escaped from the Muppet Show, other ideas are comically appealing, particularly the sea-mine protection suits worn by the two human intruders. One imagines that Ian Tetrault has progressed to far better things outside comics.
