Conan the Savage

 COT5   (Marvel, 1995-1996)

and 1978 Conan Properties, Inc.

In 1995, Marvel rebooted their Conan titles, ending the tremendously successful but flagging Conan the Barbarian, winding up Savage Sword of Conan, and introducing new titles Conan, Conan Classic, and this black-and-white title, Conan the Savage.

This title featured both new and reprinted stories, including new tales by Mike Baron, Val Mayerik, and Roy Thomas. In format, it was virtually identical to The Savage Sword of Conan, with a more hard-edged, adult feel than the color Conan titles. Unfortunately, none of the new Conan titles really took hold with readers. By mid-1996, all had been cancelled, including Conan the Savage.
