Chilly Willy (Walter Lantz)

 CWWL   (Dell, 1956-1960)

™ and © Dell Publishing Co.

The Walter Lantz animation studio introduced the penguin Chilly Willy in 1953 in a cartoon called, yes, “Chilly Willy.” The first Dell Four Color to feature the character didn’t come along until three years later, and his adventures as the title character in a comic book remained delegated to the Dell Four Color series.
