Black Canary/Oracle: Birds of Prey

 BCOP   (DC, 1996)

™ and ©1996 DC Comics

Two of DC Comics’ more dynamic female heroes have stumbled upon each other. Together, they discover a completion that they lack separately. They are a team in the true sense of the word—much like Batman and Robin, only cuter—fighting for justice where no one else can.

The powerful yet restless Black Canary has come across bad times. Reeling from her breakup with longtime “super” boyfriend Oliver Queen (a.k.a. the original Green Arrow), she has come to the painful realization that playing super-hero does not pay the bills. Likewise, Barbara Gordon is struggling with issues of her own. Crippled by the villainous Joker, the former Batgirl is now forced to fight crime from her wheelchair as the human encyclopedia of underground cyberspace Oracle. Complementing each other perfectly—like the super-hero equivalent to James Bond and Q—the two embark on high profit, globe trotting adventures, which pit them against such adversaries as eco-terrorists, corrupt multibillionaires and the Chinese triad.
