Bluntman & Chronic

You might think this Kevin Smith comic is a tie-in to his movie “Chasing Amy,” since it features the two comic heroes supposedly created by that film’s main characters. In fact, though, it’s a tie-in to another Smith film, “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.” For these comic “heroes” are actually that film’s title characters in outlandish costumes, stopping crimes inadvertently while trying to either get laid or make money. In one story that spoofs the origins of heroes from Green Lantern to Spider-Man, the pair attempt to gain superpowers. In another, a legion of pathetic supervillains describe how their freakish origins were caused by Bluntman and Chronic. A third “reprints” the heroes’ supposed first comic book appearance. Written by Smith and featuring art by Michael Avon Oeming, Pat Garrahy, and Mike Allred, this raunchy, joke-a-minute title spoofs both movies and comic books and won’t disappoint Smith’s many fans.
