It’s difficult to imagine what life must be like for Alex Wyatt: he’s lost everything, thanks to the “gift” that he possesses—or that possesses him. In fact, this brooding, supernatural novella opens in the Bridgewyck Institute for the Criminally Insane, where Alex awaits conviction for three gruesome murders and emphatically proclaims his innocence. It comes as no surprise that no one believes him, given that his defense is a complicated tale of lost time and demon possession—no one except the narrator of the tale, Max, a Bridgewyck inmate who’s aware that he’s a comic book character and speaks directly to the reader. Writer-artist Lee Ferguson (Chamber) pulls out all the stops in this entertaining graphic novel from Image Comics.
