VAM6   (Bloodfire, 2004)

™ and © 2004 Jeremy Cox

This amalgam book that pits buccaneers and seaman against a vicious band of living dead pirates is the work of writer/artist/creator Jeremy Cox, better known for his lettering work for DC and Marvel. Based on an idea the creator had, sparked by a friend’s Halloween costume, the book pits a scientist against the supernatural. Overflowing with damsels in distress, pitched sea battles between giant galleons, and bloody scares, this book plays off the popularity of the two fan–favorite genres in a way unique to the industry. More issues are to come and any fan of Pirates of the Caribbean or the vampire tales of Anne Rice should tune in. Added bonus: the stunning cover by J.H. Williams, III.
