Armor (2nd Series)

 ARM5   (Continuity, 1993)

(From the Slings & Arrows Comic Guide)

Even amongst a company that prizes artwork as much as Continuity, Armor stands head and shoulders above its companion titles. Pencilers Tom Grindberg (#1-4), Sal Velluto (#12-13, series two #1, 2, and 4) and particularly the excellent Brian Apthorp (#7, 11, and Series Two #3, 5, 6) all produced some fine work, but it was the superlative inks of Rudy Nebres (#2-10, 12, 13, series two #1, 2) that raised this title to its lofty artistic heights. Sadly the fine art was saddled with Continuity’s typically addled stories and English-as-a-second-language dialogue. The title’s nadir came with #10’s hard-hitting drug expose “Kracky The Clown’s Krack House,” which was every bit as stupid as you’d imagine it to be. The second series is chapters of the company crossover “Deathwatch 2000,” [and later, “Rise of Magic”] but, as with the first, a comic to savor visually but on no account to be read. ~DAR
