Black-Eyed Susan

Didn’t anyone tell Patrick Neighly and Donny Hadiwidjaja that comics are supposed to be decompressed these days?! Why, the escape from the exploding station in the first couple of pages should take an entire issue. Certainly there should be no room for the three more shootouts that follow. They lay some interesting ground out to explore here, such as what caused the time lapse between the three characters’ eventual meeting. Hadiwidjaja’s art will probably evoke thoughts of Chris Bachalo, but the appearance is a little less tight even while the layout is a little more clear. The meatpile Martians tend to obfuscate what’s going on a touch, but no, there’s nothing wrong here, if you can accept that the military carries around bags of peepers in case they need to spot–draft civilians.
