As anyone who grew up in the 1970s knows, Battlestar Galactica was a prime-time television space opera with vaguely Star Wars-like special effects. The series followed the adventures of the crew of a giant interstellar aircraft carrier, Galactica, leading a “ragtag fugitive fleet” of survivors from an alien ambush toward the legendary home of the 13th tribe of humans, the planet called Earth. Galactica’s firepower was provided by its fighter craft, piloted by hot-shot top guns like brash, headstrong, self-styled ladies’-man Starbuck, here featured in his own spinoff title, courtesy of Rob Liefeld’s Maximum Press.

The comic series, like the television show, provides lots of space-faring drama for people who want stuff “just like Star Wars but different,” This title, like the Star Wars comics empire, combines big sci-fi art with intricate, slow-moving plots to keep readers coming back for more, month after month.
