An ambitious 132-page self-published, pocketbook-sized graphic novel about Terrance, a mysterious ninja in hightop trainers, hence his name. Terrance is guided by the ghost of a once well-respected old man with connections who sends Terrance on missions to frustrate a shady organization. The format and pacing is obviously manga-influenced, as is the comparative lack of plot. Creator Jonathan Hong has picked up the style and nuances very well indeed. If this extends to the occasional storytelling difficulty, then Hongís attention to character and detail more than compensate. Anyone who enjoys their manga should enjoy this, and plenty who donít will find it worth investigating.
