™ and ©1953 Harvey Comic Publications
In 1953, 3-D was hot! A great number of movies and comic books were released in that fateful year exploiting the format. Some of these projects were good, but most of them were bad, and so the fad lasted for only about a year, and by 1954 a lot of films that were shot in 3-D were released as flat prints instead. In comic books, Captain 3-D was one of many Simon and Kirby’s attempts for Harvey Comics. There was nothing distinguishing about Captain 3-D, so that’s why he only made one appearance. Marvel revived the character briefly in the 70s (but not in 3-D!), to no avail.
