Vox

 VOX3   (Apple, 1989-1990)

™ and ©1989 Angela Harris and Aaron McClellan

Vox is a “down on his luck” cargo-hauler who needs money to hold onto Lacy, his sexy, sentient spaceship. To bring home a bit more bacon, Vox takes a job with Alliance’s Interstellar Planet Explorations, where he will supposedly be working on a project to develop matter transmission (teleporting) as a means of peaceful space exploration. As it turns out, the project is heavily militarized, and Vox finds himself among a group of high-tech soldiers who are being trained for war. Can a self-serving, fairly lazy long-hauler get with the program and get into shape? Will he discover that there is more to his employer than meets the eye? This series, from writer Angela Harris and artist Aaron McClellan, is excellent science fiction and highly entertaining. The first issue even sports a cover by comics veteran and sci-fi fan John Byrne (Uncanny X-Men, Fantastic Four, Superman).
