Spitfire and the Troubleshooters

 SATW   (Marvel, 1986-1987)

Marvel
Series continued in Codename: Spitfire #10

Jennifer Swenson was the star of this title, a redhead whom her father Karl called “Spitfire” in recognition of her fiery temper. Karl Swenson had been a brilliant scientist, developing cybernetic attachments dubbed “Man Amplification eXperiments.” These prostheses gave the wearers super-human powers by augmenting their human potential.

Her father had envisioned using the M.A.X. units to aid mankind, but a jealous research associate had more sinister schemes in mind and murdered Karl in order to gain control of the first M.A.X. unit. Jennifer, an engineering professor at M.I.T., teamed up with a group of genius prankster students called the Troubleshooters in order to break into Karl Swenson’s old lab. They “acquired” Swenson’s newer M.A.X. models and have used them ever since to help others and fight injustice.
