An outcast nun wakes up from death to find herself in neither Heaven nor Hell, but in a seedy suburban netherworld called Murr. With no memory at first of her former life, she’s given the name Faith by the other residents, who consider her a long-awaited savior. Murr is in danger, teetering on the brink of war. The enemy: Heaven and the angelic forces of the White Way.

Heaven needs more space, and has chosen Murr for its expansion, claiming Divine Right for its actions. The fact that the current populace will be wiped away during the renovation seems of little importance.

As Faith slowly regains her memory, she’s joined by a growing cast of characters who see her as the leader in their revolt. Among these is the legendary but embittered Joan of Arc, who longs for revenge against the God that abandoned her to Purgatory.
