Ancient Joe

Who is the iconic, seemingly immortal, bare-fisted boxer known simply as Joe? Thatís the mystery that perplexes readers the moment they set foot in the world of this three-issue limited series, written and illustrated by C. Scott Morse. Joe himself (who appeared in Scatterbrain and Dark Horse Maverick), our enigmatic main character, has a more vexing mystery on his mind. Our hero, such as he is, has recently lost his wife. And, whether driven by loss, or some preternatural sense of dread and foreboding, he simply wants to make sure his wife made it to heaven. He enlists the aid of blind old Benny, who once saw Joe box Hemingway (and he hasnít aged a day since!). Bennyís connections to the, um, underworld, are what Joe needs to make sure his beloved hasnít been consigned to hell. Can blind Benny help? Will Joe find the answer he seeks? Like we said, itís a mysteryÖ
