New Teen Titans: The Judas Contract
(DC, 1988, 2003)
™ and © DC Comics
In the 1980s, Marv Wolfman and George Perez collaborated on a series which drew fan attention like few others. With the New Teen Titans, they created stories that were part adventure and part soap opera, earning a popularity and buzz for DC exceeded only by Marvel’s Uncanny X-Men, a series it was often compared to. The creative giants hit their peak on the series with the “Judas Contract” storyline, in which the teenaged heroes’ archenemy, Deathstroke the Terminator, succeeded in planting a spy in their midst, and then using that spy to defeat them. Afterward, they would never be the same again.
The pivotal series, which appeared in The New Teen Titans, Tales of the Teen Titans, and an annual, is collected here in full-color.
