Be A Man is creator Jeffrey Brown’s antithesis to his autobiographical graphic novel Clumsy. In Clumsy, Brown dissects a failed long distance relationship and recants his self–analysis of his shortcomings. In Be A Man, Brown supposedly answers his critiques by painting himself in a more macho and dominant role, casually blowing off his girlfriend, being glad about their breakup and demanding sex without guilt. A light, sometimes hilarious, look at the so–called tough guy that every Hollywood movie tells us we should be, Brown achieves a blend of satire and social commentary with this pamphlet–sized comic.
