Vertigo X Anniversary Preview

Even today, which is the Golden Age of cheap to free comics, you can’t say this special Vertigo preview comic doesn’t give you your money’s worth. Oh, you could complain it gives the reader too many sneak peaks of so many upcoming titles that you don’t get to see much of any single title — but to suggest it would be the height of ingratitude.

You get your money’s worth from the interviews with Grant Morrison, Warren Ellis, Garth Ennis and Howard Chaykin (his Barnum! has “soon to be a major motion picture” written all over it) discussing their upcoming projects alone.

But if you need comics in your comics, Vertigo X delivers pages from Neil Gaiman’s Endless Nights and Dave Gibbons The Originals, first looks at both Wintermen and The Losers, and a new, complete Shade The Changing Man story by Peter Milligan and Mike Allred.

The best way to break down a reader’s sales resistance to a new title is to show and tell them, and that’s exactly what this handy little sampler does. This is exactly the sort of sales book that DC, and every other publisher for that matter, should do more often.
