Army of Darkness was the big-budget sequel to cult video releases Evil Dead and Evil Dead II. Its story begins when a man named Ash finds the Necronomicon at a remote cabin he had rented with his wife Linda. The book, a leftover from Evil Dead was an unspeakably evil artifact bound in human flesh and written in blood. When Ash began reading it, a demonic force was unleashed that stole his wife Linda. Then it got into Ash’s body through his hand. To stop it, he had to lop the hand off. Ash tried reading a different passage of the book which was meant to open a hole in time that would send the evil back. Unfortunately, it ended up sending Ash back into a dark age of sorcery in approximately 1130 A.D.

This two-issue movie adaptation features dark painted art by John Bolton (Black Dragon).
