(From the Slings & Arrows Comic Guide)

In a world where a Capone is Governor of Illinois, Ryan Delvecchio appears to be just another Mob enforcer. At night, however, he becomes the Black Terror, a masked vigilante trying to bring down the Caponesí criminal empire. Allison Capone has her own plans, which involve displacing her father and destroying the worldís financial centers. Frankie Dio, Ryanís partner in crime, has his own hidden backers who would be as happy to grab the power for themselves as bring down the Capones. This moody, noir thriller is written by Beau Smith and Chuck Dixon in an efficient, hardboiled manner but itís Daniel Breretonís artwork that raises the story from the humdrum. The images of Allison, in particular, always catch the hint of her true nature. Overall, itís a good read. Breretonís not reached his best yet but thereís plenty to enjoy. ~NF
