Dan Cady had returned home from a long and exceedingly unpleasant stay in Korea. The North Koreans had taken him as a prisoner of war, and an overenthusiastic torturer had taken a “personal interest” in Dan. The torturer wore a black mask.

After far too long, the war finally ended and Dan went home to Iroquois Falls. But he didn’t find peace there—instead, he found war of a different sort, with crime and corruption tearing apart the city. Only this time, Dan didn’t have to just sit there and take it. He donned the mask of his former torturer and found it gave him power. Now, as Blackmask, he was ready to fight back.
